AnAI, an AI-based audio solution startup, will unveil the beta version of 'VOIX ON,' a viewer-participatory AI dubbing platform, in the second half of this year.
Founded in 2024, AnAI is a startup specializing in AI audio. Based on proprietary technologies that implement AI-based voice synthesis, subtitle and voice synchronization, and broadcast-quality audio post-processing, the company aims to create an ecosystem where anyone can consume content without language barriers.
Key technologies include: multilingual STT (Speech-to-Text) and TTS (Text-to-Speech) engines, voice synthesis based on tone and emotional control, precision audio-subtitle synchronization, and broadcast-quality audio post-processing functions.
The company has primarily developed technologies that automate the language translation and localization of video and audio content.
AnAI has set its technical direction toward high-quality audio content that can be immediately applied to actual broadcast and video content, rather than simply using basic AI models. They are refining advanced models based on open-source tools such as 'Whisper' and 'Coqui XTTS-V2' and integrating them with their proprietary TTS engine.
Currently, their B2B model, 'VOIX Enterprise,' is being applied as a multilingual dubbing service across various channels, including broadcasters like KT ENA, as well as Rakuten Viki, Treasure Hunter, and YouTube channels such as 'Chongmyeotmyeong' and 'ShortPlay.' The service is characterized by its ability to quickly provide broadcast-standard sound quality at reasonable prices according to client needs.
'VOIX ON,' scheduled for a beta release at the end of the year, will be introduced as an AI dubbing platform where general viewers and editors can voluntarily participate. After a native-level dubbing editor reviews the primary voice generated by AI, it is provided on a web-based platform to be used as alternative audio for videos. The structure utilizes a reward system based on viewer participation.
[Interview] Young Kim, CEO of AnAI: “Breaking Down Language and Cultural Barriers with AI Audio Tech”
“Our starting point and goal is to create a world where anyone can enjoy content without worrying about language.”
CEO Young Kim decided to start a technology-based business by integrating his diverse experiences as a developer, audio engineer, performer, and educator. His experience participating in an in-vehicle infotainment project during his doctoral studies, where he verified the effectiveness and market potential of AI audio, also served as a foundation for the business.
Kim personally experienced the issue of language barriers in daily life while watching dramas and movies with his spouse, who is from Canada. He stated, “Language barriers are ultimately cultural barriers,” adding, “True understanding comes from context, not just words.”
He explained that “AI audio should not just process mechanical voices through automation; it must implement human emotion and context,” noting that this is the direction AnAI is focusing on.
At the core of AnAI’s technology internalization is a specialized organization centered on audio. A significant number of the members are vocal and recording experts or acoustic engineering majors. They directly participate in collecting and labeling audio data, and they reflect user-experience-based tuning feedback—tailored to the context of actual content—into the advancement of the technology.
CEO Kim emphasized, “VOIX ON is ultimately an attempt to create a path where content is consumed further and more deeply.”
